The Prodigy™ from Springfield Armory takes the proven 1911 platform and enhances it with double-stack capacity and a performance-driven feature set. Reconfigured around a double-stack magazine, the Prodigy’s polymer grip module mounts to its forged steel frame offering capacities of 15, 17 and 20+1. Optics ready with an ambidextrous safety and picatinny rail, the Prodigy combines the most beloved characteristics of the 1911 with modern capacity for unrivaled performance.

At the heart of the Prodigy is the expertly engineered double-stack magazine. While still slim enough for a comfortable grip on the pistol, this magazine packs in 15 rounds of 9mm in the compact frame and 17 rounds in the full-size frame. Extended 20 and 26-round magazines are also available.

NEW COMPACT MODEL

The new Prodigy Compact downsizes the 1911 DS platform and enhances it with a carry-driven feature set. Available with a 3.5″ or 4.25″ bull barrel, this versatile handgun is built around a 15-round double-stack magazine and features a compact polymer grip module mounted to a lightweight billet aluminum frame. A shortened beavertail and recontoured hammer further reduce the Compact’s overall footprint.

AGENCY OPTIC SYSTEM (AOS)

Developed in collaboration with Agency Arms, the Prodigy employs AOS (Agency Optic System) plates designed exclusively for the 1911 DS. Machined from billet steel, each plate is designed specifically to deliver proper optic height for intuitive sight picture and instant target acquisition and features an integral rear sight. The Prodigy ships with a HEX Dragonfly compatible plate, while additional optic-specific plates are available for purchase on our store.

The precision, single-action trigger of the 1911 has been the gold standard for over a century. With a clean pull and crisp break, ready for taking precision shots at distance, the Prodigy™ employs this design for unbeatable control.

  • EXTENDED AMBI THUMB SAFETY

    To allow use with either hand, the 9mm Prodigy features an extended ambidextrous frame-mounted safety.

  • U-NOTCH SIGHT PICTURE

    The green fiber optic or tritium front sight of the Prodigy pairs with a black serrated u-notch rear for easy sight alignment.

  • ACCESSORY RAIL

    The Prodigy features a Picatinny rail on the dustcover of its frame for mounting the accessory of your choice.

  • BLACK CERAKOTE® FINISH

    For corrosion resistance, the Prodigy features a black Cerakote finish on its metal parts that complements the black polymer grip module.

  • SKELETONIZED HAMMER

    The Prodigy employs a skeletonized hammer for fast lock times as well as exceptional ergonomics.

  • FORWARD SLIDE SERRATIONS

    To allow for easy manipulation of the slide in adverse conditions, the Prodigy features generous slide serrations both front and rear.

UNBREAKABLE

Not all metal is created equal. The full-size Prodigy features a forged steel slide and frame for maximum strength, while the compact model offers a lightweight billet aluminum frame for easy portability. Mounted to the frame is a high-impact polymer grip module with wraparound Adaptive Grip Texture for positive tactile engagement in any condition.

UNRESTRICTED

The double stack Prodigy™ features substantial capacity. From its compact 15-round magazine to the extended 20-rounder — the Prodigy will never come up short on capacity. An optional 26-round magazine is also available. 1911 DS magazines are cross compatible with Staccato 2011® platforms.

MATCH GRADE BULL BARREL

Available in three lengths, the Prodigy is offered with a 3.5″, 4.25” or 5” forged bull barrel with an 11-degree crown. The result is a pistol that offers match-grade accuracy and fast follow-up shots.
