New 10mm Stopping Power Transforms Springfield Armory® TRP Pistol Series
New caliber makes new 10mm TRP Operator a must-have for critical use
GENESEO, IL, August 24, 2017 – Springfield Armory is proud to introduce the first 10mm handguns in its history.
Two new 10mm TRP Operator models – one with a 5-inch barrel, and one with a 6-inch barrel — deliver the highest terminal velocity and greatest stopping power of any production pistol, in the most elite production platform crafted by the gunsmiths at Springfield Armory.
Until now, Springfield’s TRP (Tactical Response Pistol) Operator 1911s were available in .45 ACP only. The 10mm option puts a new fighter on the field, giving serious shooters professional-grade precision, decisive performance and unmatched impact in a weapon they can count on.
“The original TRP pistols were built for the most severe conditions a shooter could face,” says Springfield Armory CEO Dennis Reese. “Now, law enforcement, military and civilian customers have a choice of either .45 or 10mm caliber in a platform built to handle anything.”
Since its introduction, the TRP .45 ACP has become the standard for serious fighting handguns – a tradition the feature-rich 10mm models continue. Originally developed as a civilian version of the FBI’s specially-designed 1911, the Springfield TRP provides high-end custom shop features in a production class pistol.
Forged National Match frames and slides are precision fit and matched to Match Grade stainless steel barrels with fully supported ramps and bushings. Frames and slides are Black-T finished to withstand heavy use and harsh environments. Integrated three-slot accessory rails allow rock-solid attachment of lights, lasers, or other accessories. Front and rear sights – a tactical rear in the 5” version, and a fully adjustable rear in the 6” model — hold Tritium-powered lamps for positive target acquisition, even in low light.
The Octo-Grip front strap, checkered mainspring housing, and G10 VZ Grips lock in confident handling. Once the ambidextrous safety lever is flipped, the Springfield Armory Gen 2 Speed Trigger, calibrated to a crisp 4.5- to 5-pound pull, delivers the quickness and control to dominate tough situations. Recoil is managed through an 18.5 lb. system with one-piece full-length guide rode and recoil spring plug, making every round easy on the operator. Each 10mm TRP Operator is shipped with two 8-round magazines.
The new 10mm TRP Operator models weigh in at 40 oz. (5-inch barrel) and 45 oz. (6-inch barrel), making these full-sized 1911 pistols a substantial, well-balanced option for the elite shooter looking for a decisive weapon.
“The most serious situations demand the most serious firearm we can offer,” according to Springfield’s Reese. “There is no place for compromise when lives are at stake. We put everything we’ve got into TRP Operator pistols, and every weapon we make, for one simple reason: everything may depend on them.”
