GENESEO, ILL. (11/7/2022) – Springfield Armory® is proud to announce it has been named the Guns & Ammo Innovator of the Year for 2022. Selected by the publication’s editors and contributors for the award, the company was honored for its numerous successful and popular launches throughout the year. Acknowledged in the award descriptions were impactful products such as the Hellcat Pro, SA-35, 1911 DS Prodigy and the Hellion rifle.

In selecting Springfield Armory for this esteemed award, Guns & Ammo noted that the company received nominations in numerous award categories, with several becoming finalists. As this pattern emerged, Guns & Ammo decided to reconsider its “Innovation of the Year” award that historically recognizes a single product and create the new “Innovator of the Year” award for 2022.

Armed with this new category in its 2022 Awards program, Guns & Ammo assessed that Springfield Armory’s steady and consistent introduction of new pistols, rifles and accessories spanning from the fourth quarter of 2021 through the third quarter of 2022 featured many significant new products rather than simple line extensions. In addition, Guns & Ammo noted Springfield Armory’s strong marketing effort, also calling out The Armory Life digital and print publications as part of its innovative approach.

“Looking back, we should have seen this coming,” said Eric R. Poole, editor-in-chief of Guns & Ammo. “In 2019, Springfield Armory launched the Hellcat pistol. Then, it was the Model 2020 Waypoint rifle the following year. In 2021, a wave of trendsetting ground-up designs appeared such as the SA-35, arguably the best tribute to the original P.35 ever. Since then, Springfield Armory hasn’t shown signs of slowing. Springfield Armory won the first Guns & Ammo Innovator of the Year award for its continued pursuit to satisfy brand loyalists and gain new ones.”
