Super-Popular Caliber Meets High-Performance Platform

GENESEO, ILL. (01/08/18) – With its first-ever .380 ACP pistol, Springfield Armory is putting the most popular concealed-carry round into a platform so well-designed and equipped for comfort, size and convenience, it’s the perfect pistol for your EDC.

It’s largely because Springfield engineers focused on the shooter, not just the .380 cartridge, optimizing the 911 frame-to-slide-to-trigger guard relationship to create handling characteristics unique among small pistols. Many pocket guns can be hard to handle and unpleasant to shoot, discouraging practice at the range and time on the hip. However, Springfield Armory’s gunsmiths specifically engineered the comfortable feel, confident control and minimal recoil in their .380 platform to encourage both practice and carry in the most concealable firearm that Springfield currently offers.

The 911 .380 carries a short-reset G10 pivoting trigger with a crisp 5-pound pull, a differentiating and satisfying feature in such a small pistol. That quick, positive trigger squeezes off repeat rounds with reassuring precision, a key factor in surviving defensive situations. An ambidextrous safety ensures the weapon won’t fire before the operator intends, and a hammer provides peace of mind with both visual and tactile cues allowing for various modes of carry.

The new 911 comes with a bright tritium low-profile tactical rear sight, paired with a low-profile combat Pro-Glo™ tritium and luminescent front sight. Sighting is designed around the shooter to provide faster target acquisition and a possible edge in an encounter. The low-profile design ensures a snag-free draw, to put the weapon between operator and attacker as quickly as possible.

To keep the weapon invisible until needed, the frame measures 5.5 inches long and less than 4 inches high (without magazine), with a smooth profile that’s all but undetectable under clothing and easy to find in an emergency.  G10 Octo-Grip™ on the mainspring housing, and Octo-Grip™ front strap texturing, allows for secure grip contact without tearing up your clothes while carrying concealed.

Should need arise, the 2.7-inch stainless steel 1:10 twist barrel gives this small gun solid accuracy at confrontation distance. A full-length guide rod and flat wire spring enhance control and soften recoil. A flush 6-round or 7 round Mag X-Tension magazine provides the capacity to get the job done.

The new 911 is crafted of 7075 T6 anodized hard-coat aluminum, the same material used in combat-ready weapons like Springfield’s renowned SAINT AR-15 rifles and pistols. A brushed-satin, matte-finish stainless steel slide completes the picture. Good looks don’t save lives, but nobody objects to a handsome weapon.

The new Springfield 911 is an ideal carry pistol or backup gun, with the features, quickness and reliability to change outcomes. It’s small frame shooting with the familiarity of a 1911.  When the Police are minutes away and the threat is seconds away…9-1-1…When you have to be you own first responder.

“.380 is a popular carry round,” says Springfield Armory CEO Dennis Reese, “and our customers deserve a pistol that makes the most of it.  We specifically designed our 911 to give the operator handling and performance like no other small gun. Once you try it, you’ll be as convinced as we are that this is the best .380 pistol choice you can make.”

About Springfield Armory®

In 1794, the original Springfield Armory was designated as our national armory by General George Washington, and began manufacturing muskets for the defense of our young, free Republic.  This monumental institution went on to serve as a think tank for developing innovative firearms concepts and producing some of the most storied rifle platforms in our country’s history.  The Armory functioned as a firearms supplier for every major American conflict until 1968 when the government sadly closed its doors. In 1974, two centuries after its inception, Springfield Armory Inc. in Geneseo, IL revived the iconic heritage of the Armory to carry on its legacy and restore the Springfield Armory name.

Springfield Armory Inc. engineers, manufactures and assembles their legendary M1A™, 1911 and SAINT® AR-15 lines of firearms in Geneseo, Illinois.
