Fraudulent Email Alert
You may receive an email from a generic gmail account illegally posing as PayPal with a vague subject line referencing a payment (e.g. “Undisclosed Payment”). The email will state a charge to the misspelled “Springfield Armony Inc” and request that the recipient call a phone number within 24 hours.
If you think you’ve received a suspicious email or have been directed to a fake website, forward it to spoof@paypal.com and PayPal will investigate it for you. After you send them the email, delete it from your inbox. If you clicked on any links or downloaded any attachments within the suspicious email or website, log into your account and view your transactions. It’s also a good idea to change your password.
PayPal does not send unsolicited emails to customers requesting a phone call, information regarding shipments of packages, invoices, account numbers, passwords or personal information.
